As an educator, my objective is to utilize my knowledge and skills to foster a positive home/ school relationship and to design strategic approaches for individualized learning styles.
I have been teaching in the St. Louis area for thirty four years in a variety of settings, twenty six of which have been at the Clayton Child Center and Clayton Academy. I graduated with honors with a degree in education from Webster University and have furthered my studies in numerous educational classes. Most recently, I obtained SPIRE certification in 2007. I have served on the steering committee for Independent Schools Association for the Central States and as a National Validator for the National Association for the Education of Young Children. I am also certified with Missouri Parents As Teachers in special education.
In my classroom, you will find themes that are ever evolving and changing; some of which may last a few days to weeks or months. This will allow for the students to extend their critical thinking. There will be time daily for specific instruction on core curricular components including social skills, pre literacy, literacy (reading and writing), math, science, social studies and handwriting. In addition, the students will participate in Spanish, Art, Music and P.E. Incorporating parent involvement in a child’s growth and development are integral parts of my educational goals.
